Before you mess with the charge. Pull it out of the window. Remove the cabinet and wash out both coils. Let dry and put it back in the window. If the cooling drastically improve call a service co. to have it charged.
Cars and central air units have "bike tire" type fittings on them for servicing the refrigerant.
Window units and many refrigerators have no fittings.
The manufacturer just crimps the systems closed … like tying off your belly button.
